The World Series of Poker for Dummies
The World Series of Poker brings together thousands of players from around the globe to Las Vegas once a year to compete for millions of dollars and champion bracelets; nearly 121,000 entrants gambled last summer for more than $231 million in prize money! Many of the most popular events will be back this year, including the $1,500 Millionaire Maker on June 9th, Crazy Eights with an obvious buy-in of $888 on June 30th, and the $50,000 Poker Players Championship taking place on June 15th. Additionally, for the first time since 2014, the $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop will return to the World Series of Poker! This is the most expensive tournament to enter in North American Poker history. Stakes will definitely be high during this pressure-packed, three-day event, which is set to begin June 15th, only a day after the conclusion of the Main Event!
In 2018, there will be a record 13 games that will begin after the Main Event starts. You can also expect several new additions to the schedule, including:
- $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty NL Hold’em (May 30th)
- $100,000 HIGH ROLLER No-Limit Hold’em (June 1st)
- $365 PLO GIANT (June 3rd)
- $1,000 Double Stack No-Limit Hold’em (June 16th)
- $565 WSOP.com Online PLO 6-Handed (June 23rd)
- $1,500 BOUNTY No-Limit Hold’em (June 25th)
- $1,500 THE CLOSER No-Limit Hold’em (July 12th)
- $50,000 HIGH ROLLER No-Limit Hold’em (July 13th)
The winner of each event will receive a bracelet and a monetary prize, which is naturally based on the number of players and the buy-in sums. You can find view the complete tournament schedule, on the World Series of Poker 2018 website here, where information about all of the events is easily accessible and available for download.
This is the richest, most prestigious and longest-running Poker series in the world, which will be televised exclusively on ESPN networks and live streamed on PokerGO, meaning at least the major parts of the tournament will be available to nearly anyone with an Internet connection or ESPN on their TV, and not just the lucky few who are able to make it to Vegas! The tournament has gradually grown over the decades, with each year seeing more events and more participants. In recent years over half of the events in the famed tournament have been variants of Texas hold 'em. Feeling the urge to play some Poker?!
