Glamma is having some great adventures this year.  This month Glamma’s Adventures are taking her to Monte Carlo, Monaco and the surrounding area.  Monaco is such a small country that Glamma will also be able to have day trips to the southeastern corner of France and the northwestern corner of Italy!  Glamma looks forward to adventuring on sandy beaches, trekking in nearby mountains, listening to local music, sampling the local cuisines, and so much more!

Here at Jackpot Capital we say so much more because in the aftermath of the Covid 19 pandemic, when so many people had to “shelter” at home, people are looking for great bucket list destinations.  So, we will give gamers one list of great destinations.  Naturally, we are not saying that Glamma will be adventuring at any of these destinations.  Glamma is keeping her next adventure locale secret, to whet gamers’ appetites for Glamma’s ongoing adventures.

Let’s Start with One Place in Every Continent

A bucket list would not be complete if every place you want to visit were within a hundred miles or so from home.  So, let’s venture forth to exotic places on every continent.

Mount Evans in Colorado

The road that winds up and up on Mount Evans is the highest paved road in the world.  There is usually still snow at the summit even in August.  When you start the climb up the mountain, the weather in August will be summery and at the summit the weather will be very wintery.

Another great draw of Mount Evans is that you can see Denver right below you from the summit.  If there is a thunderstorm over Denver, you will see it from way above the clouds!  What a fantastic sight that is!

Mount Evans is a gateway stop to visit the mountainous western states.  There are a lot of bucket list destinations in the western United States and we chose Mount Evans to lead the list.

Machu Picchu

Now we have reached South America.  There are hundreds, even thousands, of great places to visit in South America and for many people, Machu Picchu tops the list.  This is a high mountain archaeological site that was “discovered” by Hiram Bingham in 1911.  We say that he “discovered” it because the buildings that comprise Machu Picchu were abandoned by the Incas at the time of the Spanish conquest of what is modern-day Peru.  Machu Picchu was built just about 100 years before it was abandoned.

There is so much to be enthralled by at Machu Picchu including the building methods and the view into the valley.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

This is a high-elevation forest in Costa Rica teeming with exotic vegetation and wildlife.    Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is a rainforest that is semi-dry during the North American winter months of December to April.  What distinguishes Monteverde is that the forest is covered in mist almost all the time.  There is mist or fog even when it is not raining!

Costa Rica is in Central America and technically, Central America is in North America but we included Monteverde Cloud Forest reserve because the ecosystem is so unique, unlike anything else in North America.

Where in Africa Should You Go on Safari?

South Africa is still the most famous safari destination and Kenya is fast becoming a major safari locale.  There is a lot of “dead” time on a safari as people go into the savannah to see the elephants, lions, rhinos and so on twice a day.

A good safari site will have other ways for guests to enjoy the time between trips to see the exotic animals and those trips every day are well worth the wait during the down times.

Africa has pyramids, mountains, waterfalls, exotic cities with open-air markets, called suq in Arabic, the best Middle Eastern food, and modern cities.  Still, for the first set of bucket list selections we choose safari.

Europe Ruled Civilization for Many Centuries

There are grand cathedrals, big, bustling modern cities, places with distinctive cultures a short drive apart, the sites of many wars and battles; just a huge number of places to visit!

So, to make things interesting, we have chosen Slovenia, specifically Ljubljana the capitol city.  Ljubljana is a lot less well known than cities like Venice but it is the height of civilization with well-maintained old buildings and a very welcoming population.  Two or three days in Ljubljana is plenty.  The people almost all speak English and they are very helpful and friendly.  Ask a guide to tell the story of how Slovenia won its independence after the implosion of Yugoslavia!  A fantastic story!

Ljubljana has very old buildings that are not run down.  It has everything the bigger cities have but in a much more laid-back style.

Asia is a Difficult Place to Visit

If we had our way, we would recommend Tel Aviv as the most under-the-radar great city in Asia.  Tel Aviv is the sushi capital of the world outside of Japan.  It has more vegans per capita than anywhere else in the world.  Tel Aviv is a city where ultra-religious people and gay people coexist in harmony.  Tel Aviv is possibly the most inclusive city in the world despite being the largest city in a country where ancient religions also thrive!
